Student Life

Discipleship

Let your light shine before men in such
a way that they may see your
good works, and glorify your
Father who is in Heaven.
Matthew 5:16

University Christian School desires to lead every student to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We believe our mission is best achieved when intentional, deep relationships are formed. In doing so, UC students enjoy a rich discipleship experience designed to introduce them to Christ, encourage them in their walk with Christ, equip them in becoming fully devoted followers of Christ who are prepared to obey the great commission.

Students are given the opportunity to experience God through multiple age appropriate outreach opportunities. Chapel, small groups, mission trips, and class trips/retreats all provide Biblical worldview training for Pre-K – 12th grade students.

Weekly Chapel

From ELA through 12th grade, our students meet in weekly chapel services. UCS uses this time as a time of reflection and spiritual growth for our students. Students will come together and corporately worship and study the Word, applying Biblical truths for relative topics that relate to their lives. Chapel messages are presented by University Church Pastors, administrators, local and global mission leaders, UCS faculty and staff and various ministry leaders within our community. Student led worship, intercessory prayer and shared testimonies are some of the components of UCS chapel services.

Small Groups

Intentional relationships that are built within a smaller community of students help to narrow the focus on spiritual growth and accountability with one another. Small groups are more intimate groups leading to discussions that are more relative to the age and situations of the students meeting. This is an opportunity for Bible study, prayer and personal discussion of life challenges and issues while being mentored by adult leadership and direction.

Outreach

University Christian students are given multiple opportunities to participate in outreach throughout the local Jacksonville community. UCS has clubs and class sponsored events that work with organizations such as the Corner Pantry, Night to Shine Jax, The Buddy Program with North Florida School of Special Education, Re-Threaded, Jacksonville Baptist Children’s Home, Fosters Closet, Pine Castle, Palm Gardens and many more.

Mission Trips

UCS has two organized mission trips for our students. The first is specifically designed for our sophomore class, who travel to Mexico City and serve with one of the sending missionaries from University Church. While in Mexico, students will assist with projects in their Christian school, United Capital School, the local Manna Feeding Centers and camps for local inner-city young children. The second trip is for the senior class, who has traveled to multiple countries working with Filter of Hope and sharing clean water with poverty-stricken families. Their trips have consisted of traveling to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Belize, and Hawaii. While missions travel is limited specifically to these two grades, students from all grades at UCS are able to participate and play a role in the work conducted by gathering items and supplies for the individuals we will be serving.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
